A century of creekside memories: happy 100th anniversary to Creek Caravan Park!

Today marks an incredible milestone for the Creek Caravan Park: 100 years of creating unforgettable memories on the stunning Ringstead coast! On August 11, 1924, a vision began to take shape. A stretch of land was purchased, destined to become a haven for relaxation, exploration, and the simple joys of life.

Humble Beginnings, Enduring Spirit

Old caravans in Ringstead 1930s

The early days of the park were a testament to ingenuity and resourcefulness. Many of the original caravans were crafted from repurposed railway carts and charming gypsy wagons – a true reflection of the spirit of adventure that has always defined Creek Caravan Park. Families flocked to the park, drawn by the promise of fresh air, coastal beauty, and the unique charm of our growing community.

A legacy of laughter and relaxation

Over the decades, countless families have made Creek Caravan Park their home away from home. Children have splashed in the sea, friendships have blossomed around crackling campfires, and generations have returned year after year to reconnect with loved ones and create new memories. The park has seen couples fall in love, celebrations of all kinds, and quiet moments of reflection by the water’s edge.

A place where dreams take flight

As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we’re reminded that Creek Caravan Park is more than just a place to stay – it’s a place where dreams take flight. Whether you’re a lifelong resident, a first-time visitor, or simply someone who’s heard whispers of our magical corner of Ringstead.

To mark our centenary year

As with Creek Caravan Park tradition we are having a party to celebrate  a century of laughter, love, and the spirit of adventure!

Exactly 100 years from the date of purchase on the 11th of August 2024 we will come together once again to mark the occasion with pizza and prosecco!

This is just the beginning of our centenary year and we are planning more celebrations for this tremendous milestone. To start it off we will be digging into our archives to share some of our stories, photos and interesting documents and publishing them on a newly launched website www.ringsteadarchives.uk follow along for new posts.

Hilda Fisher

I can’t write this post without mentioning the woman who started it all, Hilda Fisher.  She was a remarkable women and was hugely influential in shaping Ringstead into what it is today. Not only did she start the caravan site at Ringstead, she also started the quarry, built the road, several houses and a windmill as well as organising water rights and supply to the properties in the village.

She was a fellow caravan enthusiast and without her entrepreneurial spirit, passion and vision we certainly wouldn’t be here today. I will save her full achievements for another day and another blog post.
